Red ‘X’ on Build Folder, Team Explorer shows red for all builds
May 23rd, 2008 by aextraRecently I upgraded our Team System from 05 to 08, everthing seems to be working ok until I tried to ran a build – the build folders are not available.
at first I thought that the upgrade probably removed or wasn’t able to migrate the security to the new box, I even uninstall and reninstall vs08 even tried repair of vs08 but nothing works.
One thing I noticed is that whenever I try accessing the builds using a different machine eveything works fine and that gives me a good clue on the problem – my user account is corrupted in the specific machine that I was using.
So I rebuild my damaged profile and everything works now.
- 1. Back up the user (username)  data – for details please see the article above
- 2. Log on as a local computer administrator
- 3. Remove the domain user (username) from the computer users
- 4. Delete his document and setting folder (C:\Documents and Settings\username)
- 5. Add user (username) as administrator on the machine
-
6. Restore username documents and favorites from the backup you made
here is a step by step on how to recreate your damaged profile: sWindows XP Problems if you Profile is Damaged
